The authentic Chinese version of Bill Clinton's memoir "My Life" will be published in China next month, after Yilin Press and Bertelsmann Asia bought the rights.

Chinese press reports say Alfred Knopf was paid 200,000 US dollars to translate the former president's best-selling book.

If the translation of the book can be finished on time, the official version will be out in September.

In China, a bootlegged version is reportedly already on sale at small private booksellers in Shanghai.

The fake version of "My Life", or "Wode Shenghuo", is said to not only have a different photo on the cover, but includes content directly lifted from Hillary Clinton's autobiography "Living History".

Clinton's memoir reached the one million sales mark in July, just eight days after it hit the shops.

In the 957-page memoir, Clinton writes of the "personal humiliation and disgrace" of his affair with Monica Lewinsky, a former White House intern, his shame about lying to the public and how he explained the affair to his family.
