Austrian Woman Writer Wins Nobel Prize

Austrian novelist and playwright Elfriede Jelinek has been awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature.

Austrian novelist and playwright Elfriede Jelinek has been awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, becoming only the 10th woman and the first Austrian to win the prize.

The 57-year-old writer is best-known for her autobiographical 1983 novel "The Piano Teacher" which has been made into a movie three years ago.

The awards are presented on December 10.
