China will strengthen its work in presenting HIV/AIDS trasmission from pregnant women to their babies.

An official at the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention says the project will increase the number of AIDS prevention and control districts to 127 by the end of 2005.

The Health Ministry says education and more widespread AIDS testing will help reduce the incidence of mother-to-baby transmission.

China has officially reported 840,000 HIV positive cases, with the first case discovered in 1985.
