China is promoting a new method of AIDS counselling and testing at the Third International Seminar for AIDS Control, in southwestern China's Guangxi Province.

The new method involves recruiting volunteers among people who are susceptible to HIV infection, such as drug users.

The volunteers act as peer counsellors and are supposed to recommend the testing among their communities.

A recent survey by Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention showed that nearly eighty percent of drug users and people doing sex services hope to get the AIDS counselling and testing, but most of them worry their personal information won't be kept confidential.
