An anti-AIDS promotion program in Peking University aims to increase awareness about HIV-AIDS by targeting college students.
Volunteer students from about 20 Beijing universities and colleges gathered Sunday to promote the AIDS-related information.

Liu Jinhai is a volunteer from the Capital Normal University.

"College students are a major force used to spread information in society, therefore, it's our responsibility to publicize the AIDS prevention knowledge."

Lun Xiuwei, deputy director of the China National Communication and Education Center for Family Planning, believes the anti-AIDS promotion depends on youths.

"The youth is the future. Sex is one of the ways to spread AIDS, while the youths are sexually active. So it is of great significance to carry out this promotion activity and raise the students' awareness, letting them correct their attitude to sex and educating each other."

This activity is jointly sponsored by China Population and Communication Center, United Nations Population Fund and the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS.

This is the first time that college students have come together to publicize anti-AIDS information.
