Students in Peking University are talking about the AIDS-prevention activity

Peking University has rejected moves to give free condoms to students on campus, saying the campaign may mislead their students.

The local health department organized an activity to publicize AIDS prevention to university students. They bought 1000 condoms which they wanted to give to the students to help them learn how to protect themselves.

The university welcomed the campaign but not the free condoms saying they didn't want to make the students think that they permit them to have sex while at school.

However in the capital city of east China's Shandong province, the offer of free condom's is not being taken up by students because they are too shy to accept them.

December one is World AIDS Day and a series of activities are being held in China to teach people how to stop the spread of AIDS.
