China's Health Ministry and Justice Ministry have jointly announced that HIV/AIDS tests will be carried out among all prisoners throughout the country starting March next year.

Without specifying how many inmates will receive the check-up, the statement promises to have all behind-the- bars examined.

Further tests will be done for relatives of those who's samples turned out positive.

Prisoners are believed to be more prone to HIV/AIDS spreading, due to higher rate of narcotic use among them before being prisoned.
