A recent survey shows that male migrant workers in Shanghai perform much better than local counterparts while on the job.

In the survey carried out in Shanghai, nearly 39 percent of the 1284 respondents said their male colleagues from Shanghai are arrogant, offer undeserved criticism and attempt to manipulate others for their own benefit.

About 48 percent of the surveyed said migrant male employees are harder workers and more duty-bound than local men.

Only 10 percent of respondents said they were willing to work with a Shanghai native. But 46 percent of them would choose to cooperate with their migrant co-workers.

The survey was conducted by one of China's leading Web-based headhunters, Zhaopin.com.

Liu Hao, CEO of the website, said the reason is because migrant workers face more pressure to get a good job in the city, while native men do not.
