Central bankers from the Group of 10 developed countries, the G10, predict the world economy will grow four per cent this year.

European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet said after the G10 central bank governor meeting in Basel of Switzerland, that global trade will achieve steady progress despite the slow down of economic development in second half of 2004.

Trichet says last year high oil prices should return to normal levels.

He also welcomed the U.S. efforts to maintain a strong dollar policy and reduce fiscal deficits.
