Related Event: Ukraine's Political Crisis

The Russian government says Ukraine is not the border between Europe and Russia.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says that Ukraine is a sovereign state and must settle its own domestic crisis without foreign interference or pressure.

Lavrov adds that Russia has a legitimate interest in former Soviet territories and both Russia and its neighbours should respect each other's right and interests in this region.
