Ukrainian Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich says a recount of the vote or a re-run of the election is illogical.

The prime minister, the official winner of last weekend's disputed presidential election, says the Central Election Commission has recognised the final result.

The opposition led by Viktor Yushchenko appealed to the Supreme Court on Thursday over the election result and called for a rerun of the second round of voting.

Ukraine's Supreme Court on Thursday blocked the inauguration of Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych and agreed to hear arguments that the vote had been tainted by fraud. It requests the Central Election Commission not to publish the result of the second round vote before it made the arbitrament.

On the same day, a military official in charge of Ukraine' western military region said that Ukrainian army should keep out of the dispute in the presidential election, participating in none of the political activities.

Russia and many other countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States have congratulated Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich on his winning the election.

But the United States, Britain and European Union refused to accept the result of the election.
