Related Event: Asian Tsunami Disaster

In Jakarta Thursday, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao gave a speech to raise suggestions for tsunami disaster relief and reconstruction work.

He confirmed that China will keep its promise to the damaged South Asian countries and ensure more than half of the relief materials and funds China has pledged will arrive by the end of this month.

He added that the Chinese government is willing to provide them with meteorological aid and will continue participating in the reconstruction operation.

China will also host a symposium with ASEAN countries in Beijing at the end of this month to discuss the setting up a 'tsunami alarm' mechanism.
