The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government says the death toll of Hong Kong tsunami victims may rise to six.

Deputy Secretary for Security Michael Wong said on Sunday that the two people found dead in the past 24 hours had studied and worked in the Philippines.

He said the government will further verify the facts and, if confirmed, the death toll of Hong Kong tsunami victims would rise to six.

Four Hong Kong residents were previously reported to have died in the tsunami at the Thai resort island of Phuket.

He added by Sunday noon, 60 Hong Kong residents were reported to have lost contact with their families.
