General Xiong Guangkai, China's Vice Chief of General Staff says the Shanghai Cooperation Organization or SCO enjoys a bright future of healthy development.

At an international conference in Beijing, Xiong Guangkai notes SCO member states have reached broad consensus on further deepening friendship and cooperation.

He adds the organization enjoys good development prospect in the fields of politics, economy and trade, as well as security and culture.

He believes in the next 10 to 20 years, the SCO will play a positive role in safeguarding world peace, promoting regional economic development and fighting international terrorism.
