The Tangshan Municipal Government says it's continuing its effort to end pollution from the steel industry in the area.

The main approaches to dealing with the problem of pollution include strengthening supervision of the demolition of disused facilities, cutting the excessive electricity use, and tighter regulation.

The municipal government in began examining pollution in the steel industry this August and say their examination will be complete by the end 2004.

The government says they will close any companies which don't meet environmental protection standards.
