The 7th China Shanghai Arts Festival ends with success

Accompanying the beautiful rhythm of "Swan Lake", the month-long 7th China Shanghai International Arts Festival came to the close.

Accompanying the beautiful rhythm of "Swan Lake", the month-long 7th China Shanghai International Arts Festival came to the close. The closing ceremony took place at Shanghai Grand Theatre on Nov 18th. The vice executive director of organizing committee of festival, Yin Yicui attended the closing ceremony, with vice director of organizing committee, vice mayor of Shanghai, Yang Xiaodu presided the ceremony.   

The 7th China Shanghai International Arts Festival took place from in Shanghai from 18th October to 18 November 2005. 114 performances of 65 different events (16 congratulatory ones included) from 24 countries and regions were presented at the festival. The total attendance at festival events was over nearly 200,000.   

The great improvements had been made in the quality and quantity of performances with the Sino-foreign cooperative projects becoming the striking point in this edition of festival. The productions such as The Australian choreographer Graeme Murphy's dance drama "Mulan", Sino-Italian cooperation of opera classic "The Barber of Seville", Hamburg Chamber Orchestra with Chinese pianist Xu Zhong, The Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra dating maestro Yo-Yo Ma, Sino-Canadian multimedia acrobatic show "ERA" posed the explosive effects, consolidating the status of festival in serving as the bridge of international cultural communication.
