The 6th China Shanghai International Arts Festival

The 6th China Shanghai International Arts Festival was held from 15 October to 18 November 2004.

The 6th China Shanghai International Arts Festival was held from 15 October to 18 November 2004. The festival presents a total of 106 performances of 60 different programs from 26 countries, including 32 from overseas and 28 local. More than 400,000 audiences attended the festival events.   

The programs for the festival were stimulated and challenged, continuing to introduce Sino-foreign excellent works, including festival opening work, dance drama, A Dream of Red Mansions, Dance Theatre, Dances of The Dynasties, 3D outdoor opera spectacle, Carmen, classic Ballet Sylvia, French opera Les Paladins, drama Record of a Golden Lock and Sichuan Opera Jin Zi. World-acclaimed maestros invited were flutist James Galway with Munich Chamber Orchestra, multi-facet cellist Yo-Yo Ma, celebrated conductor Christoph Eschenbach and the top-notch Italian tenor, Andrea Brocelli.   

Almost 400 delegates coming from 160 festivals, performing agencies and organizations of 32 countries and regions attended the Shanghai International Performing Arts Fair 2004. 124 letters of intent were inked.   

The festival presented 11 exhibitions and expositions such as, The 5th Shanghai Biennale, The 8th Shanghai Art Fair, The 6th Masterpiece Expo of Chinese Arts& Crafts and The Grand Art Exhibition for World Peace 2004.   

The French Culture in Shanghai held during the festival was certain to create a bridge of cultural communication between China and France.   

Furthermore, the 7th INCP Annual Ministerial Meeting was held in accordance with the China Shanghai International Arts Festival.
