Iraqi neighbors on Tuesday urged the Iraqi government to strive to overcome serious security problems.
In a final communique issued after the second meeting of interior ministers of Iraq's neighboring countries, the participants said security and stability are fundamental requirements for economic development and progress both for Iraq and for the region.
They underlined the importance of security cooperation between neighboring countries and Iraq to achieve and maintain peace and stability in the region.
Meanwhile, the communique condemned all terror acts in every form, reiterating commitment to confronting them by national, regional and international efforts.
The communique particularly condemned terror acts targeting Iraqi civilians, security forces, political and religious leaders and establishments and foreign citizens and institutions.
It called for appropriate measures to be taken to prevent terror groups from using the territory of states as bases for presence, recruitment, training, financing, planning, incitement or terror operations against other states.
Iraqi neighbors also reaffirmed their readiness to provide training and equipment to Iraqi security forces to help the Iraqi government restore stability in the country.
Interior ministers from Iraq, Turkey, Iran, Syria, Kuwait, SaudiArabia, Bahrain and Jordan attended the meeting in Ciragan Palace in Istanbul on Tuesday.
The third such meeting will be held in Saudi Arabia.
