Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov have talked over the telephone on a United Nations Security Council resolution on the Iraqi issue which is under preparation.

Li Zhaoxing stressed that the resolution should be conducive to an early realization of "Iraqi people governing Iraq", and should give full play to the role of the United Nations in Iraq.

The two ministers also agreed to enhance consultation and cooperation on the Iraqi issue.
