Cuba's Savon Wins her First Judo World Championships Gold

Cuba's Amarilis Savon defeated Annabelle Euranie of France to win the women's under 52kg title and her first gold medal at the world judo championships in Osaka , Japan, on Saturday.

The Cuban judoka was thrown by Euranie to lose a waza-ari point first, but recovered from the deficit to tame the Frenchwoman on the mat to score an ippon.

Japan's Yuki Yokosawa and Raffaella Imbriani of Germany took the bronze medals, beating Georgina Singleton of Britain and Ri Sang-Sim of Democratic People's Republic of Korea, respectively.
