Shanghai's sister city Liverpool is to build a "Britain-Shanghai center", hoping to help Shanghai businesses enter the British and European markets.

The "Britain-Shanghai center" will invite Chinese enterprises to set up offices in Liverpool, help them select British products and cooperative partners, and promote their products among local consumers.

Since forming a friendly relationship on October 18, 1999, Shanghai and Liverpool have widely cooperated in the fields of economy and trade, technology transference, investment, culture and sports.

Shanghai also provided assistance for the building of Chinese Town and the Oriental museum in Liverpool.

As the sister city of Shanghai, Liverpool has become a major city in Britain driving Sino-British foreign trade. Currently, over 500 enterprises from the two countries have started business negotiations.
