Chinese experts say terrorism roots itself in the huge development gap between the wealthy and poor countries, insisting that war can't eradicate terrorist activities.

Vice-Director of China Institute for International Studies, Xing Ye, and Doctor Lin Limin, from China Contemporary International Relations Research Institute, say the US-led war, without the UN mandate, won't prevent the threat of terrosim.

They note terrorism originates from the economic, political and cultural expansion of US and western powers with the developing nations being left out of the mainstream of international development.

They warn the Iraq war may make the problem worse, only spawning more terrorism.
