A Chinese official says China has kept on improving its management of the protection of the country's heritage sites.
Vice Construction Minister Qiu Baoxing said at the World Heritage conference in Suzhou that high tech is being used for that purpose.
For example, remote sensors are helping monitor some 20 scenic spots, including some world heritage sites.
China is also strengthening laws to better regulate the management of its cultural and natural legacy.
In addition, officials say at least half of China's 100 candidate sites applying to join the World Heritage list would be cut in a move to correct the practice of "Going all out on application and ignoring management."
