Authorities in Beijing have updated the number of New Energy Vehicles (NEV) that are eligible to receive subsidies, Beijing Daily reports.

The Association of Beijing New Energy Automotives released catalogues on its website, showing that 17 vehicle models produced by nine different companies have so far been included.

A latest update shows that Tesla's Model S and Model X, as well as the Emgrand EV, were also on the list.

These vehicles will receive an extra subsidy from the municipal government, which is about half of what is currently provided under the national subsidy program.

However, total subsidies for NEVs can't exceed 60 percent of the sales price.

It's expected more vehicle models will be added to the expanded catalogue this weekend.

Sales of NEVs in China basically flattened in January after the government announced its intention to update its list of which vehicles would be eligible for subsidies, leaving would-be buyers on the sidelines while they awaited the results.

The catalogue is part of an effort to exclude enterprises that commit fraud to gain subsidies from the NEV market.

China also plans to gradually reduce the amount of subsidies for NEVs and will stop providing financial assistance after 2020.
