While some US companies have recently been moving Ivanka Trump products off their shelves, it seems that dozens of Chinese businesses are rushing to register the name of the new US president's daughter as a trademark.

Companies covering food, automation equipment, education, and hygiene products have submitted more than 300 registration applications for trademarks including "Ivanka" or its Chinese characters "".

The applications are still being processed and it's unclear yet whether any will be granted permission to use the name.

Since 2010, New York-based Ivanka Trump Marks LCC was granted permission to sell shoes, clothing, jewellery and leather bags in China under the name "Ivanka", "IVANKA TRUMP" and its Chinese characters "? ". Last May, the company filed seven additional applications for other products.

The new US president Donald Trump is even more far-sighted than his daughter, it seems. As early as in 2006, Donald Trump had started applying trademark registration with his name. So far, he's trademarked about 70 products registered with the name "TRUMP", its Chinese characters "" and "", and other derivatives.
