An ongoing French musical presentation of "Romeo and Juliette" is slated to take the stage in the Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center until this weekend or December 18th.

This production is the brainchild of French choreographer Redha Benteifour with music and lyrics by French popular composer G¨Śrard Presgurvic, and it has already entertained audiences throughout Europe since it was well received in 2001 at its premiere in Paris.

Earlier as the French musical "Romeo and Juliette" was staged at Guangzhou Opera House, American musical theatre actor Brad Little watched it and thumbed up for the show.

"The set is stunning. It's also massive, combined everything together. Presgurvic's music has got all the love and passion behind it. I'm a big fan of him. I love it. I love the show."

Based on one of William Shakespeare's most celebrated plays, Romeo and Juliet, the French musical was updated in 2006 with new songs, stage sets, costumes and a new cast. Presgurvic added electronic, dance, rock and other elements of modern music to it then.

Also, deviations from Shakespeare's original plot include that the nature of the lovers' demise is different, and that new characters such as Death and the Poet are introduced.
