Celebrated British film producer David Heyman (Paddington, Gravity, and all of the Harry Potter films) has teamed-up with Alibaba to make a movie about wild cats.

The film will be an adaptation of the book series 'Warriors', and will be aimed not just at viewers in China and the UK, but a worldwide audience.

Although you might not have heard of 'Warriors' (I certainly hadn't) the series has a massive following around the world, with nearly 100 titles available to buy online.

You might be slightly surprised to hear that the wild fighting cats in question are not actually cheetahs, lions, tigers and so on. No, these are domestic cats. Well, wild domestic cats, but you get the point. 100 books about wild domestic cats that fight each other. 100 books. I wonder if anyone has read them all? I also wonder how someone could possibly write that much about these cats? Maybe we should read them to find out!

Back on track, and 2016 has been a great year so far for cinema in China. The country continues to progress towards becoming the world's largest movie market, and Chinese companies have also made a series of important cinematic investments.
