Cameron Carpenter, an American organist known for his novel interpretations of the organ repertoire, will stage a concert Tuesday evening at a Wangfujing area church in downtown Beijing.1 2
His upcoming Beijing concert has reminded the musician more or less of his maiden show in another Chinese city, Shanghai, as Cameron Carpenter explained to the news media.
"I had the first time to play in China my new organ last year in Shanghai with Shanghai symphony orchestra. It was Yu Long who gave me the chance to take the care to help me introduce my ideas, not just about organ playing but organ design and the role of the organ in music as we take music, and western music particularly into the 21st century."
Cameron Carpenter uses his hands and feet to play the organ, exhibiting remarkable flexibility.
He travels with his instrument on a huge truck, and it takes a small team to set it up in concert halls around the world.
