Chinese fans of director Ang Lee may have to wait a while before seeing his latest work.

Some technical hurdles are being dealt with here in Beijing to screen the Oscar-winning director's groundbreaking new film "Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk."

The film is the first full-length narrative film shot in 4K, native 3D at the ultra high rate of 120 frames per second, which means a theater must be equipped with special technology to screen it in its intended format.

While no cinemas in Beijing are known to be capable of showing the movie, the Bona Cinema in the U Town Mall, in eastern Beijing's Chaoyang District, is reportedly upgrading its equipment just for the special feature.

The film has already generated some buzz in the US for its high definition and will make its world premiere at the New York Film Festival later in October.

Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk is based on a 2012 novel by Ben Fountain. It follows a young solider, Billy, who is brought to a Dallas Cowboys game where he and other members of his Army units are honored for their service.

Starring newcomer Joe Alwyn as the title character, the film's star studded cast also includes Vin Diesel, Garrett Hedlund, Kristen Stewart, Chris Tucker and Steve Martin.

Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk is set for a US release on Nov. 11th. A Chinese release date is yet to be set.
