China snatches 4 medals in day 4 into Rio Olympics

Deng Wei snatched the women's 63kg weightlifting gold medal with a recording-breaking 262 kilograms in total.

Her 147 kilogram lift in the clean and jerk was also a new world best.

At the same time, Shi Zhiyong won another weightlifting gold for China as he lifted a total of 352kg in the men's 69kg category.

Shi, winner at the world championships in 2015, snatched 162kg and jerked 190kg for the gold.

Daniyar Ismayilov of Turkey claimed the silver at 351kg and the bronze went to Izzat Artykov of Kazakhstan with a total of 339kg.

Also, into day 4 of the Olympics, Chen Ruolin and Liu Huixia won the women's synchronized 10 meter platform.

Chen Ruolin, 23, has etched her name in the Olympic record books as she now own career Olympic gold medals in five career events.

This evens her with countrywoman Wu Minxia for the most diving golds won by an individual in Olympics history.

As to the women's gymnastics team event, China became bronze medalists behind the United States and Russia.

But China's heartthrob swimmer Ning Zetao did not get to the final posting a time of 48.37 in the semifinals of the men's 100m freestyle.
