Britain continues to seek closer ties with China despite nuclear deal delay: PM spokeswoman
   2016-08-02 07:39:45    CRIENGLISH.com      Web Editor: Wang Kun

A spokesperson for British Prime Minister Theresa May says her administration wants to develop a stronger relationship with China.

The statement follows a decision to put off approving the Hinkley Point nuclear power plant program, which has raised concerns in China about the new British government's openness towards foreign investment.

A spokesperson for Theresa May says its natural for the incoming government to want to look at the plans in detail, adding that Britain still values its ties with China.

Reports have suggested the new British Prime Minister has concerns about China's involvement in the Hinkley Point project.

British officials have refused to say whether national security is going to be part of the review of the project.

The new nuclear power station would be Britain's first since 1995.

It's been said the project is vital in helping the country meet its energy requirements.
