Technicians have started to adjust the fuel temperature for China's new generation carrier rocket Long March-7.

They are trying to cool down kerosene with low-temperature liquid nitrogen before they fuel the rocket.

Orbit designer Ma Ying explains that they need to get it cool enough to combat the heat at the launch site in Wenchang.

"To add the fuel precisely, we need to predict the process of heat exchange to learn how the expansion and contraction will affect kerosene, so that we can make a request for a fixed temperature to the kerosene depot. In that case, after the fueling and storing process, the temperature of propellant will rise to an optimal range before the launch."

Experts are also closely monitoring the unpredictable tropical weather on the island of Hainan.

Chief Weather Forecaster Chen Yang says Hainan's location makes his team's job extremely critical to any launch.

"We have already been increasing our meteorological observations in recent days in order to provide vital weather data during the launch window and to allow for quick revisions to our weather predictions. According to our latest observations, all seems favorable for a launch."

The Long March-7 is scheduled to be fueled on Saturday before final preparations for the launch begins.
