A Beijing court specializing in intellectual property rights (IPR) has handed down a verdict that the design of the latest iPhones is an infringement of a patent owned by a Chinese company in Shenzhen, according to a report by the Beijing Morning Post.

The court believes that the outer appearance of Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are so similar to the phone, 100C, produced by Shenzhen Baily, that it is difficult for customers to differentiate between the two. The court added that Apple must stop selling the products and providing relative services.

Apple's authorized company in Shanghai has filed a law suit to the IPR court in Beijing requesting to annul the verdict.

Many netizens have expressed concern over the total ban of iPhones in China following the decision. However, according to legal experts in IPR, even if Apple loses the appeal, the ban will only be effective in the Beijing region.
