Hundreds of migrants arrived on Monday at Greece's main port but were unable to continue their journey north.

Yusef, a 31-year-old pharmacist from Aleppo, said he did not know about the situation at the border.

"I want to go to Germany now, and I'm asking about a bus and no bus, they told me no bus now, and we have to waiting here, why do we waiting, I don't know, where we have to wait, I don't know. You see all of this is my family, we go, what I have to do, I don't know."

Thousands more migrants remained stranded at Greece's border with Macedonia after the neighboring country imposed further controls over the flow of people.

Numbers released on Friday show more than 80-thousand migrants landed on Greek shores in 2016, while some 321 have drowned.

The flow of people across the border has slowed due to restrictions imposed by Macedonian authorities.

Greece is the main entry point into Europe for more than a million refugees and migrants since last year. The country has come under fire for failing to control the influx through the sea border it shares with Turkey.
