Fans can finally watch the Chinese TV drama "The Imperial Doctress" on TV after nearly two years' waiting.

Starring Liu Shishi and Huo Jianhua, the drama is now airing on Dragon TV and Jiangsu TV, along with many online video platforms.

After first day of airing, the drama soon became the top topic in Sina Weibo, one of the most popular microblogging community websites in China.
Subjects like exquisite costumes, traditional Chinese medicine and acting skills in the drama were the most frequently discussed by the audiences.

It is reported that production company "Chinese Entertainment Shanghai" has spent more than 460-thousand U.S. dollars on portrayals to ensure costumes adhering to the history of the Ming Dynasty.

When asked about which costume is her favorite, Liu Shishi says the design of each costume had its reasons.

"I think the costumes in the drama are changing in accordance with the character's physical growth and social status. They can not be compared as to which one is better or more gorgeous."

Set in China's Ming Dynasty, the drama tells how a young woman named Tan Yunxian succeeded in becoming an imperial doctor.

After co-starring in drama "Chinese Paladin 3" and "Vigilantes in Masks", this is the third time for both Liu and Huo to work in collaboration.
