The Color Red
   2015-09-30 15:24:37    CRIENGLISH.com      Web Editor: Liu Ranran

Do you know why the color red is so important in China? There were three tribes - one liked black, one liked white, the other liked red. When the red-loving tribe won power, the Chinese people's 3000 year love affair with red began.

Red is revered in Confucian philosophy, the walls of the Forbidden City are red. Red has been a lucky color for more than 30 centuries¡despite the Chinese stock market¡¯s frequent plunges this year!

Brides wear red, kids wear red and are given money in red envelopes on New Year. Couples give red roses on Valentine¡¯s Day. Lanterns, banners, the Olympic mascot and the Chinese flag are red¡ And some people even wear lucky red underwear during their Chinese horoscope year!
