Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has taken part in a briefing connected to last month's deadly blasts in Tianjin.

He's demanding officials looking into the massive explosions make their probe thorough.

"There must be an investigation report based on facts and the law which will stand the test of time and history. There must be no gray area left in the investigation.  We need to be able to give answers to the victims and their families."

The preliminary investigation has found that corruption and dereliction of duty are contributing factors.

Li Keqiang is promising no stone will be left unturned.

"Those responsible should be severely punished according to law and discipline, no matter who is involved. Particularly, there must be zero tolerance for those who are found corrupt and negligent of their duties."

Around a dozen officials are currently being investigated in connection with last month's deadly explosions.

The blasts on August 12th took place following a fire at a chemical warehouse at the Port of Tianjin.

It left 165 people dead, and caused massive destruction across the port area.
