This year's annual fishing ban in the South China Sea has come to an end.

Around 9-thousand fishing boats and some 40-thousand fishermen are now set to leave Hainan for the fishing grounds in the South China Sea.

Chinese authorities have been imposing a moratorium on fishing between mid-May and the end of July since 1999.

It's been established to try to conserve fishery resources in the South China Sea.
