China National Tourism Administration announced on Friday that it will have a hand in the battle between the Nasdaq-listed Chinese online travel service Tuniu.com and 17 domestic top travel agencies.

On April 23, a group of China's travel agencies, including China International Travel Service, U-tour, AoYou and Caissa, launched a boycott of Tuniu.com and decided to stop offering any travel products via Tuniu's online platform starting from July 15, because the website promoted "unreasonable low-priced travel products."

Tuniu also fought back and removed all U-tour's products from its website.

The tourism administration said the dispute between different types of travel companies would influence the market economic order and customer interests.

It also emphasized that a healthy competition is the core in the market-oriented economic environment. In order to promote the development of the tourism industry and satisfy the needs of customers, the administration will establish an investigation group to verify and restore the fact as it really is.
