The Ministry of Commerce has denied the possibility of a drastic rise in China's textile exports this year following the removal of global quotas on textiles. A ministry official predicts China's share in the global textile market will have risen by three percent by the end of 2005, but won't rise sharply due to the special protective measures adopted in the US and other countries. Meanwhile, China's General Administration of Customs will levy taxes on exporting some textile products. Many believe the lifting of textile quotas on January 1st 2005 will help developing countries increase exports because of less expensive raw materials and labor.
