The United Nations has urged Arab countries to take a unanimous stance and help Iraq with its reconstruction work.
The United Nations has urged Arab countries to take a unanimous stance and help Iraq with its reconstruction work.
UN Iraq envoy Lakhdar Brahimi made the call on Sunday at a news conference after a meeting with Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
It was reported that Brahimi's trip to Algeria was aimed at
persuading the Arab country to send troops to Iraq, as part of a planned Islamic force, and help Iraqi police maintain stability in the war-torn country.
However, at an earlier meeting with Brahimi on Saturday, Belkhadem has made clear that Algeria has no plans to send troops to Iraq.
