Though reluctantly, Sudan has accepted a UN resolution to disarm Arab militias in the western Darfur region.

But on Sunday, Sudan's Foreign Minister Mustafa Osman Ismail said after a cabinet meeting the UN resolution passed Friday is imbedded with many negative elements.

Ismail said the primary negative element was the UN Security Council should not have passed such a resolution at a time the Sudanese government was cooperating fully with the international community on the issue.

The Security Council resolution gave Sudan 30 days to disarm Arab militias blamed for the deaths of thousands in the western Darfur region or face diplomatic and economic penalties.
