Hong Kong singer and actress Karen Mo is appointed Love Ambassador for saving bears, adding another mission to her love spreading list.

Karen says she has witnessed the extremely cruel taking of bile from bears for use in traditional Chinese medicine and strongly opposes it. The bears are kept for years in tiny cages with a painful catheter inserted permanently in their abdomen to drain off the bile.

She contacted the Hong Kong-based Asian Animal Fund and asked to be a love ambassador to save the animals.

Earlier, Karen visited the Fund's centre in southwest China's Sichuan Province for bears saved from the country's notorious bear farms and donated money to the centre.

The busy singer has been love ambassador for many charity organizations. The latest one is her appointment as the UN Children's Fund special envoy.
