Ted Stevens, president pro tempore of the US Senate has arrived in Beijing on an eight-day official goodwill visit at the invitation of China's top legislator Wu Bangguo.
Ted Stevens, president pro tempore of the US Senate has arrived in Beijing on an eight-day official goodwill visit.
The visit is at the invitation of China's top legislator Wu Bangguo.
The delegation is the highest-ranking one from the US Congress to visit China in nearly seven years, and is seen as important contact between China and the United States.
During the visit, Chinese leaders will meet with the delegation, and the first formal talks between the NPC and the US Senate will be held.
The delegation is also scheduled to visit Gansu Province and Xinjiang Uigur Autonomous Region in northwest China.
