Italy beat the United States 3-1 on Friday to oust defending champion China from the semi-finals of the women's volleyball 2004 World Grand Prix Finals.
Reigning world champion Italy beat the United States 3-1 on Friday to oust defending champion China from the semi-finals of the women's volleyball 2004 World Grand Prix Finals.

The United States, Italy and China all finished with one win against one loss in Pool A while the United States and Italy settled for the top two places due to better set won-loss ratio.

The United States will play Brazil, second finisher from Pool B, in the semi-finals where Italy takes on Cuba.

China, who won the World Grand Prix and the World Cup in 2003, went to the 5th-6th decider against Germany.
