Haiti's IG Wants to Charge ousted Aristide

Haiti's U-S-backed caretaker government plans to seek the extradition of ousted president Jean-Bertrand Aristide on charges of corruption and human rights abuses.
Justice Minister Bernard Gousse says the Haitian authority will set up an independent committee in next few weeks to investigate the case.

Aristide fled Haiti on February 29th as rebels were reaching the outskirts of Port-au-Prince. At present he's in temporary asylum in Jamaica.

The move could further complicate Aristide's efforts to find a permanent home in exile. Recently officials in South Africa said they would like to offer the former leader permanent political asylum, but whether or not he would take it is debatable.
