The United States has reported its first casualty of the US peacekeeping mission in Haiti.
A US Marine was shot and wounded on Sunday in the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince, but his injuries are not life-threatening.

The Marine was patrolling a neighborhood when he was shot in the arm.

The first batch of US troops arrived just hours after Haiti's former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide fled the country on February 29th, but the capital has since been rocked by a number of violent incidents.

US Marines have been involved in several gunbattles in Port-au-Prince since their arrival, killing six Haitians. (Zhao Jianfu)
