The other two were actress Uma Thurman, who starred in the latest action hit "Kill Bill Vol. 1," and Naomi Watts, who is nominated for best supporting actress in "21 Grams." The appearance will be a first for Coppola, who is up for best director for "Lost in Translation," and for Watts as well. Thurman and Jolie have been down the red carpet before. Jolie already won the Oscar for best supporting actress in the 1999 movie "Girl, Interrupted", and Thurman was once nominated for her supporting role in "Pulp Fiction" in 1994. The academy also announced that for the first time, it would provide a simultaneous translation of the telecast in Spanish. The 76th Academy awards are to be handed out on Feb. 29 at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood.
