A Joint Document Hopeful: China

A Chinese official says there is hope that a joint document will come out and it is necessary to continue dialogues to ensure a suitable resolution to North Korea's nuclear issue is reached.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao, who is also on the Chinese delegation, said Friday that there are still some differences arising in the talks but noted they need to continue due to differing opinions, difficulties and some contradictions.

He says the relevant parties are still working on a joint document, adding the parties should never give up hope on the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue.

The US has maintained the position that a "complete, verifiable and irreversible dismantling" of North Korea's nuclear facilities are necessary, but Liu Jianchao stresses that it's not enough. He says North Korea's security concerns should also be discussed and addressed.

In related news, North Korean delegation again accused the US side of anti-Pyongyang hostility, saying that has stalled the peace talks.

Russian chief negotiator Alexander Losyukov says the talks have run smoothly.

Reports say the Japanese Foreign Ministry revealed that the closing ceremony of the talks will be held Saturday morning. (Xu Qinduo)
