China says the six-party talks on the Korean nuclear issue are off to a good start on Thursday.
Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan said this while meeting with delegations to the new round of six-party talks Thursday, the second day of the talks.

He says China hopes all sides will exercise maximum flexibility and explore feasible solutions to the issue.

The Chinese official says the talks have entered the pivotal phase of discussing abolishing nuclear programs, safeguarding security and economic cooperation.

Delegations from North Korea, the United States, South Korea, Russia and Japan say the talks are constructive and provide an unprecedented opportunity for addressing the issue through peaceful means. (Xu Qinduo)
